This was a sketch done for a friend. He's putting together a sketchbook that he is going to sell and donate the proceeds to a community that does stuff for autistic children. It should be at the san diego comic con this year. This was my donation:

Came home from work tonight and still felt like painting more. I found out that one of my favorite concept guys, Sparth has a sketchbook over at conceptart.org with a lot of cool tricks, so i tried a few out in the process of creating this piece

Warping in fungi

Update: A Random quick environment, i'm just trying out a tool i never use, the warp tool, to get those lines stretched around the fungus like plants in the below painting.

Also i want to give credit on the warp tool idea to Levi Hopkins, a concept artist on Guildwars 2. I asked him over at his blog how he was stretching brushes and he was nice enough to tell me he was using the warp tool. This is some kind of alien landscape, snow environment. Really just practicing painting with the smudge brush + a few other custom brushes in photoshop, & playing around a bit with color:

UPDATE:
I finally got around to some more painting; i started this one this morning @ home with a mouse, then brought it to work and over lunch decided to challenge myself to not use my fancy cintiq and instead finish it with a mouse.

Surprisingly it felt much less limiting than i expected... Its almost nice in the way that it doesn't let me noodle... but i'll still use my cintiq/pen tablet. Mice are not terribly comfortable on the hand to draw with.

Snow Storm

Quick update:This one started out with me fooling around with brushes in photoshop... then ended up looking like something snowy, so i kind of pushed it in that direction.

Dino-thing

This is a quick creature sketch done during a meeting, in my Moleskine™ sketchpad. I'll probably do a color version and pop it in here

The concept behind it, is it's some kind of napalm spewing bird. Spewing being the key word, he vomits liquid napalmy firey goodness all over attackers. So it's something akin to boiling hot, burning oil, X 10. He keeps his napalm reserves in the pouches under his neck:

Something quick done as a sort of "test" for adobe photoshop CS5 that just released recently. Used the new "mixer brush" for most of this painting.

This one was just an out of the blue creature concept. Just trying to make it gross, and bug like, and brush up on the ol' creature skillz.
