Another desert speedpainting done over lunch. I dont know what my thing is with deserts...
I think It's the color contrasts of sky to sand to rock, then the shadows, and all the different colors the sand and composition of the desert can take on.
Then there's time of day, oases, etc. that make deserts something that conceptually you can just do so much with. Also two books that i like (dark tower, and dune) and both set in deserts. So theres that.
Anyway, here's the painting:
[edit] Also here's another done awhile back, again, another lunchtime painting of a desert, really trying to mess with color:

Witch Mountain
Came home from work tonight and still felt like painting more. I found out that one of my favorite concept guys, Sparth has a sketchbook over at conceptart.org with a lot of cool tricks, so i tried a few out in the process of creating this piece

Warping in fungi
Update: A Random quick environment, i'm just trying out a tool i never use, the warp tool, to get those lines stretched around the fungus like plants in the below painting.
Also i want to give credit on the warp tool idea to Levi Hopkins, a concept artist on Guildwars 2. I asked him over at his blog how he was stretching brushes and he was nice enough to tell me he was using the warp tool. Definitely check out his blog, there's some amazing work over there:http://levihopkinsart.blogspot.com/

More speedpainting
I did a few more speedpaintings over my lunches last week. Mainly trying out a new method of using more brushes and less linework/rendering.
